A common-looking mirror with a web of thin cracks at its center.
Duccio Malaserpe, the infamous noble-born outlaw who had escaped justice for more than twenty years, turned himself in with this mirror tightly held in his arms.
To the guards in awe, he mumbled that the man in the mirror would cease deriding him only if he surrendered.
Without inquiring much further, the guards threw Malaserpe in jail and the mirror into the county warehouse.
